This is so quaint and charming- and the toys bearing witness to the elf’s terribly embarrassing, richly deserved, roundly administered, good, old-fashioned, bare-bottomed remonstrance… the downcast Holly Hobby, the bashfully amused horse pretending to look away. oh I love it!! especially the memory about the rubber duck!! 🙂 I don’t remember exactly when I stopped believing in Santa… There’s a photo though of me when I was 3 sitting on my father’s lap who was dressed in a very cheap Santa costume (made out of shiny plastic like a garbage bag and with a tacky white beard around his face)…I looked very confused 🙂
Merry Christmas! This is adorable. I wonder if the hobby horse is thinking, well, it’s about damn time. The doll doesn’t even want to look — why doesn’t Santa pay this kind of attention to me? Is the bear applauding? From what I understand, elves can be pretty wild. Good to see Santa is a very strict disciplinarian. 🙂
What did this little elf do to deserve such a spanking? It appears she interrupted his list checking (and he’s only up to the B’s). Since it’s Christmas Eve… kinda late to be list checking now. Seems to me this might be a set up by Santa to tan the hide of his favorite, little elf brat. No tears, a defiant look on her face, is she challenging him or are these just the moments before she breaks down and cries her eyes out? When he’s done, does she go on the shelf? Now, that is one elf I’d go looking for.
